Traditional
Chinese Medicine and Cancer
Dr. Gong has
been invited to deliver the keynote speech at the March 21st Intercultural
Collegiate Cancer Conference hosted by Concordia University. The theme of this
year’s cancer conference is: Understanding Health Disparities and Making
Connections. The conference will be held at Concordia’s Buenger Education Center
in St. Paul. The conference is sponsored by a grant from the National
Institutes of Health, and organized by Baylor College of Medicine/Intercultural
Cancer Council.
Dr. Gong’s address
will introduce the audience to the traditional Chinese medicine approach to
cancer, with an emphasis on recent science-based acupuncture research. Topics
will include: treating symptoms of cancer with acupuncture; treating the side
effects of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery with acupuncture; and
the current “gold rush” in China and the United states to develop anti-cancer
agents from traditional Chinese herbs and classical formulas.
AAAOM students
may attend the conference for free, but must fax a registration form to
conference organizers ahead of time to reserve a place (limit of 10 students).
Registration forms available through Dr. Gong.
