Relieving Pain: Pet Owners Pursue Pet Acupuncture

The practice of acupuncture has been around for centuries, for humans, at least. But a new practice is available for furry, four legged friends.
While acupuncture dates back more than 2,000 years for humans, the idea of using the ancient Chinese practice is fairly new for animals.
It may sound like the ultimate luxury but it's growing more and more popular with owners. Vets say it's extremely helpful in relieving pain and inflammation in animals but it may also be the key to solving common ailments while paired with traditional medicine.
Denise Parr is a self-proclaimed cat lover. Her beloved Sparkle is almost 15 years old but suffered a stroke or seizure last year that hurt both of his back legs. She said after combining traditional medicine with acupuncture, she saw results in just one visit.
"Sparkle has a back leg that's pretty stiff most the time and I really have to exercise it," Parr said. "We went home and I started to exercise it, you know, and push it and it just went by itself."
Tonight on the FOX 25 Primetime News at Nine, how it works, the cost of the procedure, and the red flags to look out for.
