Traditional
Chinese Medicine company Eu Yan Sang has seen a 40 per cent increase in
children visiting its Singapore clinics in the past four years.
SINGAPORE: More parents have
been taking their children to visit Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) clinics
in recent years.
TCM firm Eu Yan Sang saw a 40 per
cent increase in children visiting its Singapore clinics in the past four
years.
To meet this demand, the group
recently opened its eighth child-friendly clinic in Simei. It has play areas to
keep the kids entertained, complete with toys which are sanitised daily.
Eu Yan Sang said the physicians in
these particular clinics have more clinical experience in treating children up
to 12 years old. That means they are more well-equipped to give out the
appropriate dosage of medicine, or to apply the right strength in traditional
massages and acupuncture.
The group has a total of 28 clinics
under its belt. Caryn Peh, managing director of clinic services at Eu Yan Sang
Integrative Health, said: Patients are more well-informed and they are looking
for co-management of their conditions for better patient outcomes.
"So while they continue with a
Western medical approach, they also look for TCM as an alternative or a
complementary to their medical needs."
